Officials from the 219th Third Omar Division’s press office told Radio Hurriyet that security forces killed five insurgents and wounded several others as they attempted to cross from Pakistan into Badakhshan province to carry out destabilizing activities. The division stated that the insurgents were engaged by forces of the 15th Frontier Division in the artillery zone near the imaginary zero-point line, with many injured and the remaining fighters fleeing back to Pakistan’s Chitral region. Sources revealed that the insurgents, reportedly given a base in Chitral by the Pakistani military, had aimed to enter Badakhshan’s Zibak district via Shah Saleem. Meanwhile, officials dismissed rumors regarding the 15th Frontier Division commander, Mullah Abdul Jamil Rahmani, confirming that he is in good health.
